Support to Small Businesses and Not-for-Profits Program – Additional Assistance
The Canadian Red Cross is offering additional assistance to eligible small businesses and not-for-profit organizations, located in Jasper, that were directly impacted by the 2024 Alberta Wildfires. Eligible applicants may apply for up to $7,500 in additional funding to contribute to expenses not covered by insurance or previously funded through other assistance programs. Small businesses and not-for-profits that did not apply to the initial immediate assistance program are also eligible to apply for this additional support.
Please note that this program is not intended to fund loss of revenue or income.
Application Period
This program will accept applications between April 9, 2025, and September 30, 2025.
Minimum requirements for the program
This program is open to small businesses and not-for-profit organizations that are located in the Municipality of Jasper or Jasper National Park, AND:
- Have 50 employees or less*
- Must be currently registered and in good standing with the Alberta Registry, and had been at the time of the 2024 Alberta Wildfires
- Note: Federally registered charities must have been in good standing with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) at the time of the wildfires
- Must have a Business Licence valid at the time of the 2024 Alberta Wildfires
- Have been in operation at the time of the 2024 Alberta Wildfires
- Be financially vulnerable as a result of the 2024 Alberta Wildfires
- Have resumed or are intending to resume operations
- Have a net income of less than $350,000 (calculated as revenue less expenses)*
- Have the business be their primary source of income*
*Does not apply to not-for-profit organizations

To apply for the program:

Base documentation required
Here is a list of required documentation you will need to provide with your application:
- Letter of coverage from your insurance company, including any information on payouts.
- Letter of funds provided or denied from other funding programs
- Business license from either the Municipality of Jasper, Parks Canada or the Alberta Provincial Registry
Additional documentation based on your business type:
Sole and Partner Proprietorships
- Full T1 General Income Tax Returns (personal) for all owners (not just the summary).
- Either the T2125 Statement of Business or Professional Activities or a detailed small business income statement that corresponds to the business income shown on the owner (s)'s T1.
Corporation (one or more owners)
- Full T1 General Income Tax Returns (personal) for all owners (not just the summary).
- T2 Corporate Tax Returns.
- Either Tax Schedule 125 (non - GIFI format) or a detailed small business income statement that corresponds to the business income on the T2 corporate tax return within the last 3 years.
- Information on any employment income paid to the owners by the corporation.
Unincorporated Farm
- Full T1 General Income Tax Returns (personal) for all owners (not just the summary).
- T2042 form or detailed small business farm income statement that corresponds to the farm business income shown on the owner(s)'s T1.
Not-for-Profit Organizations
- Corporation or registration documents, if applicable.
- Most recent financial statement for the organization (including applicable tax filings for the last two years).

The Canadian Red Cross communicates only via email, phone, or in person and would never send a link through a text message. In addition, the Red Cross will not ask for any form of payment in order for you to receive assistance.
