Liane Fernandes

Liane Fernandes joined the Canadian Red Cross as Vice-President, Ontario, in 2022. 
 
Liane has always been passionate about helping people and takes great pride in leading her team to make a positive impact supporting people and communities in times of need.  In her current role, Liane collaborates closely with governments and community partners to ensure the Red Cross is well positioned to provide relevant and creative solutions to meet the unique needs of communities across Ontario. She is responsible for oversight of all Red Cross operations in Ontario, including advancement of organizational strategy, business development, relationship management and financial accountability.  

Liane is a dedicated leader with more than 20 years of experience providing strategic direction, driving change for organizations, and managing challenges.  Prior to joining Red Cross, Liane was the Vice President of System Strategy at Ontario Health, where she provided executive leadership to the Ontario Health Central COVID-19 response strategy.  As Chief Strategy Officer and Vice President of Regional Programs with the Mississauga Halton LHIN, Liane had the opportunity to lead health system design and transformation across all aspects of health care, including acute, home and community care, long term care and primary care.  
 
Liane holds a Master of Health Sciences, Health Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto, where she also serves as an adjunct lecturer at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.   
 
A resident of Brampton, Ontario, Liane has been a lifelong volunteer and contributor to the community. While she enjoys painting and renovating furniture, her greatest joy is time spent with her husband and three children, entertaining family, and friends, and exploring new places and foods.
