Conrad Sauve

President and CEO

Conrad Sauvé, President and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross since 2008, is an accomplished senior executive who specializes in transforming non-profit organizations into impactful contributors to local, national, and global communities. He strategically restructured and repositioned the Canadian Red Cross by developing long-range plans and cultivating strong partnerships with senior government officials, private sector executives and other stakeholders.

Under his leadership, the Canadian Red Cross has become a global leader in emergency health including the deployment of mobile field hospitals to more than 50 contexts worldwide. The organization is now one of the top three charities in Canada, in part due to Mr. Sauvé’s successful efforts to raise public awareness of the vast array of services the Red Cross provides. Over the last five years, the Red Cross has raised more than $1B in funding.

Prior to becoming President and CEO, Mr. Sauvé was Director General of the Red Cross Québec Division, starting in 1999. During his tenure he stabilized the financial operations and garnered a 50 per cent rise in fundraising.

From 1982 to 1997, Mr. Sauvé rose through the ranks to become Director, Expansion and Development for the YMCA of Greater Montréal. A successful community-builder, he oversaw the organization’s programming for at-risk youth and negotiated a first of its kind partnership with the Park Avenue YMCA and the City of Montreal.

Mr. Sauvé is currently an adjunct professor on organizational transformation at McGill University.  He is also a recipient of McGill’s Desautels Management Achievement Award. He has served on several boards and committees in the health governance sphere, including five years as President of the board at the Régie régionale de la santé et des services sociaux de Montréal-Centre.

Mr. Sauvé holds an International Masters for Health Leadership degree from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
