Warehouse and Maintenance Technician - Health Equipment Loan Program

- New Brunswick : Bathurst, Richibucto, Edmundston, Tracadie, Fredericton, Woodstock and Saint John
- Prince Edward Island : Charlottetown and Summerside.
- Minimum age : 16 and older (18 and older in AB).
- Minimum volunteer hours /period : One or more shifts per week, of 2 – 4 hours long during Monday – Friday, however some locations may have evening and/or Saturday shifts available. The majority of the duties are performed in an office environment, warehouse space or vehicle, which are mostly clean and comfortable.
- Specific requirements : Volunteers who have a designated Driver role will require a Full Driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- This position is aligned to National and Provincial Health Standards as required during COVID-19. Personal protective equipment (PPE), physical distancing and regular hand hygiene practices are required.
- This is a reasonably physical role. Due to nature of the role, volunteers should expect that they may lift and carry equipment weight up to 30 lbs or assist in carrying equipment weighing up to 80 lbs; and climb stairs as well as transition frequently in and out of a vehicle.

The Health Equipment Loan Program Team is looking for volunteers to be part of their mission. Because of HELP volunteers, tens of thousands of Canadians who are recovering from surgery or illness are able to access health equipment that enhances mobility and independence, allowing them to recover from the comfort of their home. The HELP Technician cleans and maintains returned/used equipment, delivers and installs HELP basic and advanced equipment to clients at various locations in Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
As a volunteer in this role, you will :
- Cleans and disinfects health equipment, according to standards, with support.
- Maintains health equipment, according to standards, with support.
- Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and carries out repairs, following manufacturer’s specifications.
- Documents repairs and maintains up-to-date equipment records in inventory management system.
- Helps clients and caregivers to navigate equipment needs and informally access community resources.
- Active in the community, providing support to HELP program staff with equipment delivery, setup and removal at HELP Service Centres, care facilities or in client homes.
You bring these essential talents :
- Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot problems of a technical nature.
- Some lifting of equipment is required. We recommend volunteers be capable of lifting upwards of 30lbs. Accommodations will be made if required.
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate in a team environment.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong verbal communication and client relations skills.
- Full training is provided; however, volunteers should be comfortable with using a computer, and have good written and conversational English. French may also be required in New Brunswick. Other languages are considered an asset.
Working Conditions :
- Daytime shifts Monday to Friday.
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods.

A satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check or equivalent is mandatory for all personnel volunteering or working with the CRC.
