Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Volunteer

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA) team is looking for volunteers.
By joining the team as a volunteer, you will:
- Gain knowledge about disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
- Deliver innovative risk reduction and climate adaptation approaches.
- Engage with the public to raise awareness and increase overall emergency preparedness.
- Participate in activities related to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
As a volunteer in this role, you will:
- BeReady: Become a facilitator for the Red Cross flagship preparedness workshop, in person or virtually.
- Join a Campaign: Raise awareness in at-risk communities, and help households take simple actions to reduce their risks and adapt to a changing climate.
- Community events and activities: raise awareness at community events or help us test new approaches in risk reduction and climate adaptation, such as nature-based solutions.
- Ask the Expert (in development): in partnership with subject-matter experts, offer a space to communities to ask their burning questions about preparedness, risks, and adaptation.
- Service Continuity Planning (in development): support preparedness for community organizations to help them maintain services before, during, and after a disaster.
You bring these essential talents:
- Passion for climate change adaptation, emergency preparedness and risk reduction.
- Strong verbal/written language skills: English and/or French required.
- Complete required volunteer learning (see page two).
- Willingness to work in diverse cultural settings.
- Team spirit.
A satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check or equivalent is mandatory for all personnel volunteering or working with the CRC.
