Business Administrative Lead Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunities Conditions:
  • Location : In-person.
  • Regions/or cities: Edmonton.
  • Minimum volunteer hours/period : Commit for a minimum of six months. One or more shifts (1/2 or full day shifts) per week during the regular office hours from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM or 1:00PM to 4:30PM.
  • Specific requirements:   Valid driver’s license, Alberta class 5, with a satisfactory driver’s abstract is required. 
  • Work is performed in an office environment. Extended evening and week hours may be occasionally required.
  • May be required to travel across Alberta supporting external events or while in the provision of backfill duties in either Calgary or Edmonton main office locations.
  • Have an ability to complete Media training.

The Regional Operations Team is looking for volunteers. The Volunteer is responsible for assisting the Senior Administration Lead while providing above average administrative services through conducting community research, supporting volunteer engagement strategies, assisting with support short-term projects related to Business Support and Alberta-Northwest Territories Vice President projects, Volunteer Experience and Engagement activities, Health Equipment Loan  Program (HELP) and the Friendly Calls program delivery.
  
     
 As a volunteer in this role, you will :
 
  • Facilitating administrative services in support of short-term projects for the Vice President (VP) and the senior leadership team.
  • Conducting community research across ABNT Geography in support of short-term projects for the different CRC programs, informing community assessment and program sustainability or growth.
  • Maintaining geography-based communication Go Kits for the HELP / Friendly calls / Business support teams.
  • Support fleet Maintenance (Fueling, weekly starting, monthly vehicle safety logs, maintenance appointments, etc.)
  • Assist with the maintenance of the ABNT SharePoint Business support site.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of the volunteer community events, room setup, equipment setup, decorations, food setup, etc.
  • Bringing forward “Green” initiative ideas contributing to the reduction of paper usage and Carbon emissions aligned to national Canadian Red Cross commitments.
  • Supporting mentorship and training to volunteers. Engage in the national annual volunteer awards process.
  • Provide backup for the day-to-day Reception and Administrative Support Activities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency as first point of contact for incoming customers in person or over the phone, greets and directs customers to the appropriate Canadian Red Cross appropriate department or outside agencies.
  • Understanding financial accountability and contribute to accepting front line donations.
   
You bring these essential talents :
 
  • Minimum secondary education in an administrative or business support-related field along with 2-3 years related hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 6-month customer service experience.
  • Fluency in English, strong written and spoked communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to deal with staff, volunteers, the public and clients.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft suite of tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Comfortable with maintaining databases, managing records, and ensuring the confidentiality and accuracy of information is considered an asset.
  • Ability to engage with clients, partners, or stakeholders to offer support, answer questions, and provide guidance.
  • Demonstrate team leadership skills by effectively communicating expectations, inspiring team members and fostering collaboration to achieve shared goals.
  • Comfortable making timely, well-considered decisions that align with organizational values and goals.
  • Demonstrate consistent availability.

   
A satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check or equivalent is mandatory for all personnel volunteering or working with the CRC.
