Quebec Spring Floods 2023

Since mid-April, melting snow and heavy rainfall have caused flooding in multiple municipalities across the province. Municipalities in Outaouais, the Laurentians,  the Capitale-Nationale and Lanaudière areas have asked the Red Cross to support those impacted.

The Canadian Red Cross works closely with municipalities who request our help in order to meet the urgent needs of flood-impacted residents in Quebec.

Red Cross teams are on the ground to help those affected by providing information, referrals to other services, emotional support and assistance to meet their basic needs.

The Red Cross may provide support with housing, transportation and food. Assistance is provided on a case-by-case basis, based on needs assessments carried out with local authorities.

The situation is evolving quickly, as water levels rise and fall, and additional Red Cross teams are poised to respond throughout Quebec.

The Red Cross continues to be in close contact with local authorities, the Quebec government and various organizations on how to best support the people impacted throughout their recovery.
