The Canadian Red Cross national Risk Reduction and Resilience team offers virtual learning events throughout the year to share knowledge and ideas that communities, families, and individuals can use to make their communities safer and stronger.

Caring for Self and Others (English)
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2025, 4:30-5:30 PM PST / 7:30-8:30 PM EST
Join us for a learning session aimed towards adults, professionals, and mentors who support youth! Learn about a wholistic approach to nurture physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual connections during times of stress, crisis, or trauma. Rooted in traditional knowledge and wisdom, participants will learn key principles and tools for self-care, while also building their knowledge on extending emotional and practical support to others in times of emergency. Caring for Self and Others is a core component of the Canadian Red Cross Psychological First Aid training.

Opioid Harm Reduction for Indigenous Peoples: Fall 2024 Virtual Learning Series
From October to December 2024, the national Indigenous Programs team hosted a series of learning sessions on Opioid Harm Reduction (OHR). These sessions covered good practice approaches, available supports across the country, and firsthand insights from those with lived experience in OHR efforts.

Prepared Together: Disaster Preparedness Virtual Learning Series, Summer 2024
As climate change increasingly affects communities across Canada, the Canadian Red Cross is dedicated to helping people prepare for future disasters and build resilience.Between May and September 2024, the Risk Reduction and Resilience team successfully hosted over 40 webinars, reaching more than 1,500 participants. These sessions, offered in both English and French, focused on key topics such as general emergency preparedness, extreme heat, wildfires, mental health, well-being, and Psychological First Aid. Special presentations were given by partners like The Resilience Institute, Kids Help Phone, and FireSmart.
