COVID-19 Global Appeal
COVID-19 Pandemic
COVID-19 continues to spread globally and has been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization. The virus continues to threaten every aspect of peoples’ lives, amplifying inequalities, destabilizing communities, and reversing development gains made in the past decade.
Red Cross Response
Since the very beginning of the outbreak, Red Cross and Red Crescent societies around the world, including the Canadian Red Cross, have been on the frontlines responding to the pandemic.
The strength of the Red Cross is our combination of community-based and global support. The Red Cross is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with 192 National Societies, allowing a local response to COVID-19 just about anywhere in the world.
Leveraging this global network, the Canadian Red Cross has been sharing best practices with other Red Cross partners, including the Red Cross Society of China, the Italian Red Cross, the South Korean Red Cross, the Lebanese Red Cross and others. We have also realigned 20 of our existing international programs to account for the emergence of COVID-19.
The Canadian Red Cross is supporting key Red Cross partners in Bangladesh, Haiti, and Honduras to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the local level with resources, training, tools, and technical advice for volunteers and staff. We also have a roster of over 300 humanitarian specialists some of who have been engaged in the ongoing response to the pandemic and remain ready to be mobilized as needed.
You can support our ongoing work by donating to the Canadian Red Cross.
