With all the warm and sunny weather these past few days, we have been sharing tips to help you and your family stay safe and cool. It is really important that when the temperatures soar that everyone drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. But, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have some fun while staying hydrated!
Here are some festive and red (in honour of my favourite charity) non-alcoholic beverages that you and your family can enjoy.
Watermelon Slushy (courtesy of steadyhealth.com)
- Crush ice in a blender until chunky or smooth
- Add unseeded watermelon cut into chunks
- Add sugar or honey
- Blend until it is at the consistency you prefer, smooth or chunky
- For the visual effect, place a small slice of watermelon on the side of the glass.
Pomegranate Lemonade

Ingredients
1 cup(250 mL) (250 mL) lemon juice
2 tbsp(25 mL) (25 mL) granulated sugar
2 pomegranates, halved (or 2/3 cup/150 mL 100% pomegranate_juice)
1 cup(250 mL) (250 mL) soda water
Preparation:
In microwaveable bowl, microwave lemon juice on high for 1 minute or until hot. Whisk in sugar until dissolved. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until cold.
Using hand juicer, squeeze juice from pomegranates; whisk into lemon mixture. Stir in soda water.
