The Program and Development Team is looking for volunteers. The Master Instructor Trainer (MIT) volunteers are an important pillar of the First Aid Instructor Development Program. They facilitate Instructor Trainer (IT) courses and provide advice at all levels of the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) First Aid and Instructor Development Programs (IDP). Their knowledge, skills, attitude, and experience are invaluable to the delivery of effective First Aid Leadership programs.
As a volunteer in this role, you will :
- Provide high quality facilitation, instruction and mentorship to Instructor Trainer Candidates.
- Share their valuable experience with Instructor Trainer Candidates.
- Facilitate Instructor Trainer courses throughout Canada.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the First Aid, Swimming and Water Safety vision and values.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the First Aid National Program Standards.
- Assist and Participate in the review of Instructor Trainer Candidates’ background, skills, and knowledge to ensure they meet the requirements for the Instructor Trainer course.
- Deepen Instructor Trainer’s understanding of their role as representatives of the CRC and their role as facilitators and/or mentors for course participants.
- Work with the National First Aid Program team to conduct a minimum of two First Aid Program Instructor Trainer courses per year in a mutually agreed upon location in any province or territory.
- Ensure that candidates know which resources are available to them and how to use them.
- Act as a positive role model for all Instructor Trainers by demonstrating the CRC Seven Fundamental Principles and adhering to the Instructor Policies as outlined in the First Aid National Program Standards.
- Provide educational and technical advice to the Instructor Development Program (IDP) Curriculum Revision team including review of all materials and programs developed by CRC.
- Act as a mentor and resource for Instructor Trainers by assisting candidates with completing their post-course requirements.
- Successfully complete the MIT training program before facilitating a First Aid Program Instructor Trainer course.

- Knowledge of CRC principles, policies, mission, organizational structure, and communications at all levels with a minimum of five years’ experience as an Instructor Trainer within the CRC programs.

A satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check or equivalent is mandatory for all personnel volunteering or working with the CRC.
