Voluntary Organizations
In the coming decades, Canada can expect more severe storms, flooding and possible influenza pandemics.
Disasters and health emergencies can strike quickly and without warning. Voluntary sector organizations with up-to-date, comprehensive emergency plans can manage crises better and recover more quickly. An online tutorial has been developed to help you and your organization develop, implement and test a workable plan to prevent the interruption of mission-critical services in the voluntary sector, even in the event of a major disaster or service interruption. How the Red Cross works with the voluntary sector
When emergencies and disasters occur, public safety is paramount. However, the response can quickly deplete a community’s resources. The Canadian Red Cross works in collaboration with local authorities and voluntary sector organizations to address the immediate needs of those affected. Emergency social services are delivered by volunteers and staff, all trained to national standards. Red Cross teams are on call 24 hours a day. Learn more about Red Cross services.
