If you live in Atlantic Canada and have been affected by Hurricane Dorian:
  • In PEI, please call 1-800-863-6582 to register and receive information about how to apply for the PEI Government’s Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program. The Canadian Red Cross is operating this call centre and administering the DFA program on behalf of the Government of Prince Edward Island, for those who were impacted by Hurricane Dorian.
  • In Newfoundland and Labrador, please contact 211 if you have questions or require support.
  • In New Brunswick, please call the New Brunswick EMO General Inquiries line at 1-800-561-4034 if you have questions or require support.
  • In Nova Scotia, please contact 211 if you have questions or require support.

Disasters and emergencies can cause significant disruption and add stress to your life. Following the hurricane, you may be experiencing a range of thoughts, feelings and behaviour that can be intense, confusing and frightening. If you experience stress reactions that make it impossible to function normally, please seek help. One option is to contact your local health facility or a local crisis support line. In PEI, you may call the Island Helpline at 1-800-218-2885. For immediate assistance anywhere in Canada, call 1-833-456-4566.
