Red Cross volunteers helping those affected by floods in Québec

Persistent, steady rains have put several communities in Québec at risk of flooding. Canadian Red Cross volunteers are providing disaster relief services in a number of areas, including accommodation and food.

So far, Red Cross has helped more than 4, 000 people in 25 municipalities and our volunteers are welcoming those affected by flooding in reception and information centres across the province.

Volunteer teams relocate families to nearby hotels and provide meal vouchers based on the needs assessment of each family, and offer a lot of support and comfort in these challenging times.

The Canadian Red Cross is working closely with municipal and provincial authorities to help support people who have been affected by the flooding.

The situation is evolving rapidly, as water levels vary, and our teams are monitoring the situation very closely with volunteers on standby to assist municipalities as needed.

How to help

People wishing to help those affected inside Quebec specifically can contribute to the Spring Floods Appeal in Québec, which helps meet the needs of those who have been most affected by the floods. These needs may include shelter, food, basic home repairs, children’s needs and personal services.

In-kind donations of food, clothing and other items, while well-intentioned, are not being accepted.
