If you’re still looking for some great and meaningful gift ideas to show someone you truly care, here are some of our suggestions:
Give a gift that matters by providing food, warmth and comfort
During winter months, Red Cross sees a surge in families and individuals who need our help. Donating to the Canadian Red Cross holiday giving campaign will provide that help to those who need it most, through our Disaster Management and Community Health services. Give the gift of help and hope by supporting this campaign and you can ensure one less Canadian is feeling hungry, cold, or alone this winter.
Give a gift of community support with TOMS for Target
Target Canada customers can share in the spirit of giving by purchasing items through a limited edition collaboration with TOMS. The collection includes apparel and home accessories and each product is clearly labeled with its corresponding donation so customers can easily understand its impact. The purchase of items like hoodies, hats and scarves will provide the Canadian Red Cross with the equivalent donation of a blanket to help bring warmth to families affected by disasters in Canada.
Give the gift of knowledge with Red Cross courses
Knowledge is power and you can help friends and family be prepared with informative and accredited courses to learn skills to help others as well as themselves. The Canadian Red Cross offers a variety of courses in swimming, first aid, babysitting as well as violence, bullying and abuse prevention.
Give the gift of preparation so loved ones can be ready
Keep loved ones safe during disasters with their own household Disaster Preparedness Kit. This portable kit includes over 85 items to help support you for the first 72 hours following an emergency, including a wind-up flashlight and radio, water purification tablets, candle, knife, and a fully stocked first aid kit.
Give the gift of experience with books in support of Red Cross
Did you know proceeds from famous Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield's book, You Are Here: Around the World in 92 Minutes go towards the Red Cross? The book features a compilation of approximately 200 photos that Hadfield took during a five-month mission aboard the International Space station, which ended in May 2013.
Washington Capitals forward Eric Fehr has co-authored the children's book The Bulliest Dozer, with Pamela Duncan Edwards. The book tells the tale of little machine Bo Dozer and his friends. Bo is embarrassed by being unable to skate so he starts bullying his classmates to get attention. When Bo saves the holiday ice concert by discovering his own talents, he learns that bullying is not a good idea. A native of Manitoba, and a former Winnipeg Jet, Fehr is working with the Canadian Red Cross to donate proceeds of Canadian sales of the book to the Red Cross Violence, Abuse and Bullying Prevention programming.
