Food Friday: Emergency food solution for vegetarians

*Every Friday is all about food on Red Cross Talks – everything from Red Cross inspired recipes to emergency food tips and solutions

This edition of Food Friday is for all the vegetarians out there!

This item was recently brought to my attention - it's an emergency food supply specially made for vegetarians. With this kit, there’s no need to worry about what to eat when a disaster strikes. It contains 55 pouches with five servings each – that equals 275 servings! The kit has a 20 year shelf-life and is kept safe and dry in an easily transportable water-proof bucket. You just need water and a heat source, and voila! You have a meal.

With dishes such as vegetable rice, Italian tomato pasta, and maple brown sugar oatmeal with zero MSG and trans-fats, it sounds like a good disaster dining solution if you or a loved-one doesn’t eat meat.

The Canadian Red Cross recommends families have an emergency preparedness kit, which contains items for them to be self-sufficient for 72-hours in the event of a disaster.

Would you add this food kit to your kit?
