Canada is now facing the extraordinary toll of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Canadian Red Cross is already playing a critical role in this response both in Canada and overseas. As the pandemic continues to spread, the work the Canadian Red Cross is doing to support impacted Canadians will broaden over time and adapt to meet long-term needs.
Since the beginning, we have been responding to the emerging needs of this situation. At the request of the federal government, Red Cross staff and volunteers have provided comfort and care to Canadians quarantined in Trenton and Cornwall after returning to Canada.
We have also assisted our sister societies in Japan by supporting Canadians in Japanese hospitals being treated or in isolation for COVID-19, and in China by mobilizing personal protective equipment medical supplies.
The Canadian Red Cross has the proven capacity to act in times of crises and emergencies, in partnership with public authorities and all levels of government across the country. As the pandemic moves through its stages, the Canadian Red Cross will use the financial support of Canadians to support those most vulnerable in communities across Canada.
The Canadian Red Cross is the only national voluntary organization that can simultaneously provide all six emergency social services, recovery case management, safety and wellbeing services (psychosocial support), and first aid anywhere in Canada.
We have proven capacity to surge rapidly in support of local authorities and stakeholders to meet the demands of an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving risk environment.
The Canadian Red Cross is here to support vulnerable Canadians impacted by the pandemic and will collaborate and work in a coordinated manner with all levels of government and other partners as requested and needed.
Donate to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Global Appeal
Red Cross and Red Crescent societies around the world are actively preparing and responding to the global pandemic, COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
As the virus continues to spread, the Canadian Red Cross is gathering donations to help ensure international communities that have been most affected will receive the care and attention they need to persevere.
Donations will support international Red Cross and Red Crescent in COVID-19 preparedness, response and recovery activities.
Alternatively, if you’d like to support our operations domestically, please make a donation to the Canadian Red Cross Fund.
