Canadian Red Cross responds to flooding in Fort McMurray area

The Canadian Red Cross is responding to flooding in the Fort McMurray area that saw more than 12,000 Canadians evacuated from their homes, with countless others affected by the rising water levels of Athabasca, Snye and Clearwater Rivers. 

Red Cross Disaster Response Teams are on the ground helping people who have been forced to flee their homes. Of course, with the threat of the coronavirus complicating matters, the Red Cross is implementing protocols such as physical distancing and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect those in need as well as our responders.

To assist the many communities affected by this severe flooding, the Canadian Red Cross has opened the Fort McMurray & Area Floods Fund and is encouraging Canadians who can help to give generously. Money raised for this fund will assist affected individuals and communities with flooding relief, recovery, resiliency, and risk reduction support.
