In Quebec, the Red Cross is helping people in need and providing a variety of services based on immediate needs of affected individuals and families.
Red Cross teams are providing support for impacted individuals in New Brunswick and in Ontario, Red Cross Disaster Management teams are monitoring situations very closely and volunteers are currently on standby to assist municipalities as needed.
Local Red Cross volunteers have been activated across the country, providing a variety of services based on the need in each region. This includes support such as reception and information, registration and family reunification, emotional well-being support, lodging, food, first aid, and providing cots and blankets.
Canadian Red Cross providing financial aid for flooding relief
The Canadian Red Cross has announced financial assistance for households in affected Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario communities directly impacted by spring flooding. Affected households may receive $600 to help meet their immediate needs.
Since the flooding began, the Red Cross has been working with municipal and provincial governments, local authorities, community leaders and other organizations to help families and individuals who have been impacted. Financial assistance is the latest of many ways in which help is being made available to those who need it.
Canadian Red Cross Appeals Opened in Three Provinces
When incidents such as floods cause a lot of damage resulting in widespread humanitarian need, the Red Cross can respond thanks to loyal donors who support our work and a network of highly trained disaster response volunteers.
If you wish to support the Red Cross response to spring flooding, any contributions will be used to help meet the needs of those who have been most affected by the floods. These needs may include shelter, food, basic home repairs, children’s needs and personal services.
