Haiti: Five Years On

Five years after a devastating earthquake struck Haiti, the Canadian Red Cross continues to help earthquake survivors recover from this disaster, rebuild communities and restore hope. Efforts continue to ensure communities are stronger, healthier and more resilient the next time disaster strikes.

To date, the Red Cross has assisted more than 5 million earthquake survivors. Some of these activities include:

• More than 1 million relief items distributed

• More than 230,000 people received medical care at a Red Cross facility

• More than 19,000 families have received safe shelter solutions from Canadian donations

• More than 420,000 people have been reached through violence and abuse prevention efforts

• 300,000 families received door-to-door cholera prevention information
