$500 is available to eligible households who were in Jasper at the time of evacuation
The Canadian Red Cross will be providing an additional one-time $500 payment per household for people impacted by the 2024 Alberta wildfires. Starting today, households who were previously registered, authenticated and living in Jasper at the time of the wildfires, will be contacted by the Red Cross with information on how to access the one-time additional $500 payment.
“We recognize the holiday season can be a financial strain for many people, and this year that is compounded for residents of Jasper impacted by the 2024 Alberta Wildfires,” said Amy Avis, chief of Humanitarian Services with the Canadian Red Cross. “We hope this additional assistance is helpful for individuals and families this holiday season.”
Canadian Red Cross will connect with eligible households on how to access the additional payment and households will then be required to indicate whether they would like to receive the one-time $500 holiday financial assistance.
In addition, the Red Cross continues to accept applications for the Support to Small Businesses and Not-for-Profit Program until December 20 and is also offering personalized recovery support to people to discuss their unique needs and next steps in their early and long-term recovery. More information is available here.
The Red Cross remains in Jasper to offer support and share expertise through the recovery process and will continue to work with the community, the Municipality of Jasper, Parks Canada, the Government of Alberta, and the Government of Canada to determine how to best support evolving needs.
