Tiffany Circle Anniversary Event

Event Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge the City of Toronto is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.

Historically, a land acknowledgment is a traditional practice shared amongst Indigenous groups to recognize the Indigenous land and territory they are visiting. Today a land acknowledgement remains a way to express one’s gratitude to the Indigenous people for being stewards of the land that we live and work on.

The Canadian Red Cross is committed to reconciliation and the humanitarian principles that underline all our work. Through all our programs, the Red Cross works to support the process of reconciliation and recognize the diversity of Indigenous communities.
