Why your community needs an AED

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anytime, anywhere. Having an AED in your community, along with trained individuals, can make a difference in someone's life.

1. CPR + AED Can Triple Survival Rates: When CPR is performed immediately after cardiac arrest and combined with an AED, a person’s chance of survival can double or even triple*.
2. Time is Critical: Survival rates increase significantly when CPR is combined with defibrillation within 3–5 minutes of collapse*.

• Receive a high-quality AED to be placed in a central, accessible location.
• Train two people** in lifesaving CPR/AED skills through Canadian Red Cross Training Partners.

Who can apply?

Communities that meet the following criteria:
 

• Giant Tiger presence: Your community must be within approximately 100 km of a Giant Tiger store to be eligible.
• Identified need: Demonstrated need for an AED in your area.
• Commitment to access: How your community will ensure public access to the AED.
• Training preparedness: Commitment to training two people per AED site.
