Subscribe to our bi-monthly newsletter filled with current IHL news, articles, and resources, by sending an email to IHL-DIH@Redcross.ca with ‘Newsletter Registration’ in the title. For a deeper dive into IHL issues visit the publications and videos in the Resource section.
Organize an event or training and attend upcoming events
Whether you are a professor, high school teacher, government official, member of the military, NGO staff or university student, the IHL Network at the Canadian Red Cross is happy to discuss how you can organize an IHL educational event or training for members of your organization. Explore our current or past events for ideas on possible themes. Just contact us with what you have in mind, and we’ll be happy to get back to you. IHL-DIH@redcross.ca
Integrate IHL into your classes
- If you are a High School teacher: Attend one of our humanitarian education teacher trainings. Then integrate Forced to Fight and/or these teaching resources and activities into your classroom. And connect with other Canadian teachers in our online community of humanitarian educators on Facebook.
- If you are a university or college professor: Encourage your students to participate in one of our IHL academic conferences or make our events a course requirement for your students. Also feel free to contact one of our subject matter experts to help you integrate IHL into your course syllabus (IHL-DIH@redcross.ca).

- If you are a university student: Attend one of our IHL academic conferences and integrate the topic into your next academic assignment with the help of online IHL libraries such as ICRC and IIHL. The Canadian Red Cross also has limited
IHL internships for law students.
Volunteering & Internships
- Volunteer with member organizations of other networks: Cooperation Canada; Provincial and Regional Councils
- Internships with the IHL Program at CRC—The IHL Program has limited internship positions in the fall and winter term that are open to current law students across Canada who can receive credit by their university for the internship experience. These competitions are posted in the CRC Jobs section in the month of May and October respectively. We also have summer internship partnerships with law faculties at Western University and Queen’s University. Please contact the placement offices in the law faculties of those universities directly if interested.
