June 4th 2018 Webinar
Urban Warfare and the use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas
Learn how armed conflicts and military operations are changing and creating new challenges in international humanitarian law (IHL), including the use of explosive weapons in urban environments. Also known as the law of armed conflict, IHL is the body of wartime rules that protect people who are not or are no longer participating in hostilities. Its central purpose is to limit and prevent human suffering in times of armed conflict. You'll hear about the growing role of urban warfare in our world, and how it impacts civilians and humanitarian aid workers. The presentation will be followed by a short Q & A session.
