March 24th 2017 Fredericton Conference

The Canadian Red Cross will be hosting the 11th Annual International Humanitarian Law conference at University of New Brunswick, Fredericton campus, on March 24th, 2017 in partnership with the University of New Brunswick Law Society.

Each year the student organizers of the conference attempt to create a forum to discuss the foundations of IHL and the necessity and application of laws which limit both the methods and means of armed conflict. The conference aims to address the challenges and possibilities of IHL in the 21st century. This year the conference will focus on the environment as both the victim and the cause of conflict, and will explore what rules of armed conflict say about protecting the environment.

The conference will bring together experts from the field of IHL as well as academics, practitioners and representatives from the Office of the Judge Advocate General, the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Date: March 24th, 2017 from 11 am- 4:30 pm
Location: 41 Dinneen Dr, Ludlow Hall, Fredericton, NB
