Bug Out! Get the Facts on Germs

Bug Out! Get the Facts on Germs is designed to help children, parents, teachers and caregivers learn about the importance of illness prevention and control. It is a unique program that features in-class and at-home activities for topics including how bacteria and viruses are spread, hand hygiene, cough and sneeze etiquette, when and why to stay home when you are sick, immunization, and influenza pandemic preparedness.

Bug Out! Get the Facts on Germs is intended for children ages 6 to 13 and their parents, caregivers and educators. The program includes activity booklets, corresponding facilitator’s guides for each of the following:

  • Students aged 6– 8 (Kindergarten, and Grades 1, 2, & 3);
  • Students aged 9–11 (grades 4, 5 & 6); and
  • Students aged 12–13 (grades 7 & 8).
  • An activity booklet is also available for families to work through at home.
  • A certificate of completion, highlighting the participant’s enhanced health hygiene skills, is available for facilitators and families to download.
