In her own words: A student in South Sudan on achieving her dreams despite the odds

In South Sudan, women are up against immense odds to finish their education. They face barriers like menstruation forcing them to stay home from school, the cost of school, displacement, and boys’ education being prioritized over girls’.

The Canadian Red Cross works with women and girls to help them achieve their dreams. Women like Christina, who is studying to become a midwife – a profession that is very needed in her community. The Red Cross is supporting Christina by paying her tuition fees.
