A group of law students from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law won the 2nd annual Clara Barton Moot last week. The moot which was put on and hosted by the American Red Cross tested the participants’ knowledge of International Humanitarian Law.
Sixteen teams from across the United States and Canada competed in this three day intensive competition. Students were asked to role play throughout each round; taking on roles of governments, the ICRC and Judge Advocate Generals. Each role required that the students work in teams of three to advance the interests of those they were role playing. University of Ottawa students Christopher Kreutzner, Blaise Power and Pinar Cil were this year’s champions.
