Photo of the Day: Syrian Arab Red Crescent Mobile Health Unit aiding communities

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent Mobile Health Unit is always welcomed in Ghuzlaniyah, a village situated 20 kilometres east of Damascus, where men, women and children flock to the vehicle to form lines to wait for medical consultations. The mobile health unit visits the village three times a week, and aids more than 120 patients each visit. Ghuzlaniyah used to house 3,000 families; however, with recent crisis, 10,000 displaced families have come to the village.

The Mobile Health Unit is also always accompanied by psycho-social support volunteers who host activities for children, such as playing games and face-painting. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent Rural Damascus branch is supported by two IFRC mobile health units, one ICRC mobile health unit – which attends the community in Ghuzlemiyah – and the psycho-social team is supported by the Danish Red Cross.
