South Sudan: Bringing life-saving assistance to the displaced

Since conflict began in South Sudan several months ago, conditions have deteriorated rapidly for those fleeing their homes in search of safety. Now driving rain makes their living conditions even harsher.

Hundreds of thousands left their homes as violence erupted, some living under trees, without food, and no longer able to perform their farming or fishing livelihoods. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been providing support to the displaced, such as air dropping food to multiple areas.

One ICRC delegate recently returned from South Sudan with the following video, depicting conditions of the displaced and their recognition of the lifesaving food aid ICRC is providing through air drops, as well as one woman's story on her resilience in waiting for her family's return.
