Tech Talk: Making it easy for Ontarians to access community support

A recent addition to the Canadian Red Cross website now makes it easier for people in Ontario to locate services which help them live independently in the community. A new listings directory enhances the experience for visitors to the site who are looking for Red Cross support services such as nutritional assistance through Meals on Wheels or rides to and from medical appointments. Using this directory, people simply input their address, city or postal code, and then select a category such as Meals on Wheels, Friendly Visiting or Assistive Devices. They will then be directed to a webpage listing all the Red Cross support services available in and around their community.

Due to complexities in service coverage areas, it was sometimes difficult for seniors and those with an illness or injury to find the right services close to home. This directory was specially designed to solve this problem, making it simple for them to access their local Red Cross community support services. We are excited to have this new user-friendly search function and hope you check it out.
