The Red Cross continues to provide assistance to people in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina after record rainfall forced thousands to evacuate their homes. Red Cross staff and volunteers from local branches across the three countries quickly deployed resources to help. They've also received additional support from sister Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.
As we can see in these photos, Red Cross volunteers are busy providing shelter, blankets, hygiene supplies, food and drinking water to affected communities. In some cases, a hug is what is most needed.
The Canadian Red Cross deployed an aid worker to support emergency operations and remains ready to deploy additional resources, as requested. Canadians can support the on-going flood relief efforts in the region by making a donation to the Balkan Floods fund online or by calling 1-800-418-1111.
