Join our Twitter chat about emergency preparedness

Some Canadians don’t believe a disaster will happen in their community, yet, last year, many Canadians experienced disasters through events such as the Lac-Megantic derailment, Alberta floods and Toronto ice storm, as well as personal disasters like house fire or flooding.

Are you prepared in case of an emergency? Join us on May 7 at 3 pm EDT for a live Twitter chat on emergency preparedness using the hashtag #BeReady. The Canadian Red Cross is hosting this chat during Emergency Preparedness Week (May 4-10, 2014) to raise awareness about being ready in times of emergency.

The Red Cross (@redcrosscanada) will be joined by emergency management partners Toronto Police Services (@torontopolice) and City of Calgary (@cityofcalgary) and others to answer your questions and discuss how to prepare prior to any disaster that may affect you and your family.

The Twitter chat will be moderated by Christine Pantazis (@cpantazis), a Canadian Red Cross Social Team ambassador who is trained to help the Red Cross in times of disaster.
