The Manitoba Disaster Management trailer recently rolled out of the Red Cross Winnipeg office, heading east to Ontario, ready for a dramatic makeover.

When the trailer left Winnipeg it looked good on the outside, wearing the brilliant Red Cross colours with pride, but the inside was virtually empty, though that will not be the case for long.
Thanks a partnership between the Ontario and Western Zones, the trailer will undergo renovations to be converted into a mobile office for the Disaster Management team.
On the outside, the changes will be subtle and cosmetic, including adding steps and an awning. The inside, however, will be substantially changed.

After the makeover is complete, the trailer will be equipped with laptops, a printer, Wi-Fi Internet access, a cellular antenna, desks, a fridge and a number of other items. The trailer will be powered by propane and solar generators to assist the Disaster Management team in providing support to disaster affected communities.
While the trailer was whisked off to Thunder Bay for these modifications, once renovated, it will reside in Kenora, just 200 km from Winnipeg, ready to travel where it’s needed when disaster strikes.
