Update: Red Cross responds to Ontario flooding

Flooding is occurring in communities across parts of central Ontario with State of Emergencies declared in many municipalities including: Huntsville, Bracebridge, Kawartha Lakes, Powassan, Markstay-Warren (Sudbury area) and Minden Hills. Thousands of people may be affected, with a majority of those being in Kawartha Lakes.  In some communities, such as Burnt River, families have been forced to evacuate their homes.

The Canadian Red Cross is working closely with community officials and is prepared to respond as needed. Red Cross volunteers have set up reception centres in Minden and Burnt River to assist families who are in need of shelter, food, personal services and information.
