Many Torontonians who have been without power since the weekend will be spending the holidays in shelters set up across the city.
One family staying in a shelter is Marcy, along with her 20-year-old son Damien, 22-year-old daughter Ashley, and Ashley’s boyfriend. The family came to shelter with their three Yorkie dogs from a nearby apartment that has no power or heat. "Nobody wanted to come here, but we have all been well cared for. We are grateful for the heat and food," said Marcy. Marcy’s three dogs have been a big hit at the shelter, making everyone smile. “They watched them chase the sock for entertainment. It made us all laugh,” she said. “You would be amazed how people here have tried to help each other."
