Today is World Red Cross Day! To capture the work of Red Cross volunteers around the world, our post today features a picture that was submitted by the Ukrainian Red Cross to the Federation’s photo project which exhibits the experiences of Red Cross staff and volunteers.
Photo caption: Ukrainian Red Cross Society youth show their Red Cross colours! With more than 60,000 volunteers nationwide, the URCS supports the protection of human lives, and prevention and alleviation of human suffering. It organizes youth awareness and anti-stigma initiatives and campaigns on issues such as HIV/AIDS. More than 300 school children participated recently in these initiatives.
World Red Cross Day is also an opportunity for us at the Canadian Red Cross to reflect on the important work we provide Canadians each and every day. As disasters become more frequent and severe worldwide, they do as well in Canada. You may be surprised to know that the Canadian Red Cross assists, trains and educates over 43,000 Canadians each and every week. We have a goal to raise 43,000 - that's one dollar for every person we help. Click here to help support our programs and services that mean so much to so many.
