Every Tuesday, we publish a photo to show Red Cross at work across the country or around the world. Do you have a photo to share? Let us know!
Aaron van Nostrand was also volunteering in fire-ravaged Slave Lake during the royal visit. However, the logistics manager didn’t get an opportunity to use his much-practiced royal wave. He was too busy performing first aid on some well-wishers. Indeed, Aaron and another Red Cross volunteer and fellow Nova Scotian, Matt Smith, who happens to be a firefighter and medical first responder, helped a young boy who had fainted in the crowd and showed signs of heat exhaustion. The pair went on to deal with two other medical incidents that day. There’s always next time, Aaron.
Meanwhile, not to be outdone by the safety-minded, PFD-wearing Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (read this blog post by Safe Kids Canada for more on that), staff and volunteers in Kentville, Nova Scotia decided to celebrate the visit with some royal-inspired fashion of their own. Check out these cool hats!
