Helping those affected by the earthquake in Turkey

The Turkish Red Crescent responded immediately to the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey earlier this week. Throughout the region they have mobilized teams of disaster responders and supplies including over 2,000 tents, 7,500 blankets, 100 stoves, bread, and water. Soup kitchens have been set up to help feed those who have lost their homes or are unwilling to return to them, fearing aftershocks. In addition, teams of local volunteers have set-up two camps to support 260 displaced families.

According to initial assessments more than 1,300 people were injured and over 2,000 buildings have been destroyed, leaving tens of thousands of people in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Assessments by the International Red Cross and the Turkish Red Crescent have concluded more resources are needed to help affected families.

They have asked for our support.
