Order of Red Cross to Kai Tao

A Red Cross volunteer since 1991, Kai Tao recently received the Order of the Red Cross. Kai was recognized for his efforts in establishing a relationship between the Chinese Canadian community and The Canadian Red Cross Society for the China Flood Relief in the 1990’s and more recently the Myanmar Cyclone and China Earthquake.

For the Tsunami victims, Kai was a spokesperson who initiated a national telecast with Fairchild TV , which resulted in $700,000  to assist those affected.  Kai has been involved in a number of fundraising events and has acted as an advisor on a number of local and national disasters including the SARS outbreak and the China snow storm disaster.

Kai served as Vice president and President of Ontario Zone from the years 1995-2001. He was also a member of a number of National committees including the advisory group for disaster services, advisory group for fundraising, National nominating and development committee, as well as serving on the National Board of Governors from 1997 -2000.

The Order of the Red Cross recognizes outstanding humanitarian service, dedication, and achievement on behalf of the Society and the world at large.
