Photo of the Day: Three Quinte women receive Rescuer Awards in community ceremony

Rescuer Awards Quinte

Last Friday three women from Quinte, Ontario were each awarded Rescuer Awards for their actions that helped save the life of a man found unconscious in the water at Sandbanks Provincial Park. Tracy Markland, her daughter Hanna Vance, and Hanna's friend Matraca Urch all helped perform lifesaving first aid and CPR when they found Ze Lui in the water. Once they spotted Ze the women recognized the need for intervention and began compressions and rescue breathing while someone went to go get help. The Red Cross Swim Program teaches rescue breathing techniques to help save lives in these types of situations. The award ceremony was well attended by the Bay of Quinte community and its local water safety groups who were all there to acknowledge the lifesaving efforts of the three women.
