Claudia from Haiti: Photo Tuesday

Every Tuesday, we’re going to publish a photo to show Red Cross at work across the province or around the world. Do you have a photo to share? Let us know!

For this week's Photo Tuesday, I couldn’t resist sharing with you this adorable shot of Claudia and her brother in Haiti. The photo, taken by Sophie Chavanel, shows two children who live in a Red Cross shelter in Haiti. Claudia has eight brothers and sisters and they have been living in the shelter since the quake hit.

The Canadian Red Cross aims to provide families in Jacmel and Leogane with up to 7,500 wooden shelters that are both hurricane and earthquake resistant. Funding for up to 7,500 more is being provided to and implemented by the International Federation of the Red Cross. The number of shelters that will be built is dependent on the assessment of needs, land availability, the clearing of debris and other critical issues brought about by such a large scale disaster.
