Since the start of this year's monsoon and typhoon season, heavy rains, flash floods, storms and landslides have caused widespread devastation in many countries.

Afghanistan, BangladeshChinaNepalIndiaPakistan and Viet Nam have all been hit by major floods, which have forced the evacuation of millions of people.

Across South and East Asia, volunteers and staff from the Red Cross and Red Crescent have been responding to the disasters by helping rescue people, distributing emergency relief and providing essential services, such as health care and clean water.

This year's destruction comes following a particularly harsh storm season in 2006, which left many poor residents struggling to recover.

Canadian Red Cross is appealing to Canadians to give generously to support the tremendous humanitarian needs across Asia in response to devastating floods that have brought widespread devastation to millions.
