Why join the Canadian Red Cross?
Be part of a team that shares your passion.
Our organization is made up of diverse and dedicated individuals who share one common goal: to help people in times of need.
Use your skills for the greater good.
The Canadian Red Cross mission has never been more crucial than it is today. From field nurses to software and web developers, we are always looking for new talent with a wide range of skills to help us advance our humanitarian efforts.
Work for one of Canada’s top employers.
We value our employees as much as we value their work. That’s why after surveying over 10,000 Canadians, Forbes selected the Canadian Red Cross as one of Canada’s best employers.
What guides us
Strengthening resilience
Everything we do is guided by our Fundamental Principles. Our mission is to help people and communities in Canada and around the world in times of need and support them in strengthening their resilience.
Trust and collaboration
By working collaboratively and with integrity, we earn the trust of the people whom we serve and with whom we work. Our leaders foster and sustain a culture of inclusion, trust, and open communication, which helps our people feel valued and united by a common goal.
Diversity, inclusion and belonging
We strive to provide an environment where all staff and volunteers can thrive and have a sense of belonging—at a systemic, procedural, and individual level. We are committed to represent the communities we serve and to increase Indigenous diversity throughout our personnel and leadership.
Work that benefits you
Creating a flexible and healthy work environment for our team is highly important to us.
We offer a wide range of both in-person and virtual roles to suit different lifestyle
needs—from casual and/or short-term contracts to full-time, permanent positions. Our
benefits differ based on contract type and job level. Below are some examples of what we
typically offer.

Work/life balance
We want our team to flourish in their roles at work—and in the many other roles in their lives. Offering paid vacation time and flexible virtual/hybrid work for some roles allows our staff to balance their personal and professional priorities. We also provide paid sick leave, and compassionate and bereavement leave.
Health and wellness
We offer comprehensive health benefits and support all staff in making their health a priority. Team members can recharge with a wellness day, take advantage of our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Headspace, and employee discounts to encourage healthy living.
Future planning
We invest in the long-term success of our people. Whether through our many professional development opportunities or retirement savings plans, we’re here to help our team build the future they want for themselves.
Additional employee benefits
Other benefits to working with us may include a comprehensive Health and Dental plan, Life Insurance & Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Long Term Disability insurance, a Registered Pension Plan with Employer contribution, and a Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP).
Work with us
Work from the office or virtually
You can make an impact from behind the scenes by ensuring we always have the tools and resources required for the next crisis. We have positions in Technology & Digital, Marketing, Finance, Philanthropy, and many other areas. Most of our staff work virtually while some work from the office or a hybrid working model.
Work in our communities
Our in-community team members are actively changing the lives of people around the world and in Canada. We maintain a roster of vetted and trained emergency personnel ready to be deployed on short notice in response to international and domestic emergencies. Our team provides support to any kind of emergency response such as natural disasters, conflicts, war, and public health emergencies.
